We will meet in the Rotunda at the base of the Grand Staircase. The first phase of this program will cover the logistics of giving a complete tour in City Hall. You will learn: Where all the restrooms are Where the cafe is Where all the significant city offices are The details of the base isolation system to protect against earthquakes Interesting photo locations and more The second phase of the tour will be in the Veteran's Building across Van Ness Avenue: You will learn or see: Some history on the Building and why many veterans organizations are located here. The magnificent and fully restored Herbst Theatre and Green Room Who was Mr. Herbst? The stories behind the murals that were created for the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition and more The third phase will be back at City Hall for a docent led tour. You will learn or see: Varying details of the building Additional history of City Hall and some of the mayors Magnificent Board of Supervisors Chambers and more All attendees will be provided handouts and tip sheets to assist in preparing your own tour.
