Member Forum - Over The Road - Free Networking and Info Event

As part of the SFTGG's 2018 focus on member education, we are offering this targeted session for those working as Over The Road guides or who are interested in pursuing opportunities in this area.  The session is our first effort in bringing together these members to establish an OTR community within the Guild.  Our goal is to improve the support, education, and development for those leading or interested in leading OTR tours by leveraging the outstanding knowledge and experience within our membership.

Introduction to Over The Road
Here we define what is an OTR tour?  What are the different types of OTR tours? We will discuss the pros and cons of leading OTR tours through the sharing of experiences among  forum participants.

Preparation - How to prepare for a new tour
Regardless of whether you have been leading tours for over a decade or about to lead your first OTR trip, we all are asked to take tours, alternate routes, and visit sites to which we have never taken guests.  This will be a facilitated group discussion on how to prepare for a new trip, what level of preparedness is expected and how to engage fellow members for assistance and support.

OTR Guide Community
We will wrap up our session by discussing ideas and opportunities within the SFTGG going forward including:
What OTR specific education can the Guild offer.
How can we leverage each other's experience and knowledge.
What can the OTR community offer to the Guild.

The moderator,Garrett Ethridge,is primarily an Over The Road tour director based in the Bay Area.  He leads 25 to 30 OTR tours annually throughout the western USA and on the East coast.  He typically leads a variety of tour types including Adult, Student Educational, Student Performance and Outdoor Adventure, spending approximately 200 days on the road each year.  When Garret is home, he works with multiple DMCs to provide local guiding, transportation and event support.

Join Garrett and your fellow OTR guides or aspirants in this most informative dialog exchange.
