About this event
Ready to swap the city skyline for rolling hills and sun-soaked vineyards? Join me for an exclusive tour of the North Bay towns of Santa Rosa and Petaluma. We’ll meet at the Ferry Building at 8:15 am at Gate C and return to the Ferry Building in San Francisco at 5:10 pm.
We’ll begin our scenic adventure with a relaxing ferry ride to Larkspur and a unique Smart Train journey. Imagine the soothing rhythmic motion while gazing out at the serene landscapes of rural North Bay, showcasing ranches, farms, and vineyards, all set against a backdrop of sentinel mountains that seem to guard this land from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
Upon arriving in Santa Rosa, a local Sonoma County Historical Society member will reveal hidden charms and share captivating stories of this charming region. He will lead us through significant historical sites, followed by a 45-minute lunch on our own, with plenty of restaurant options.
In the afternoon (12:56 PM), we’ll catch the Smart Train again, arriving in Petaluma, where a costumed member of the “Petalumans of Yesteryear” organization will greet us. This non-profit organization is dedicated to sharing Petaluma’s history with everyone. Our costumed docent will then guide us on a tour of Historic Downtown Petaluma, which, unlike Santa Rosa and San Francisco, survived the 1906 earthquake without significant damage, preserving vintage 19th-century buildings.
Finally, we’ll take the Smart Train back to Larkspur and then a shuttle to the ferry and the San Francisco Ferry Building.
This trip will equip you with captivating stories and insights to share with your travelers, showcasing a side of the Bay Area many never see. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow guides, explore a hidden gem, and rediscover the magic of the North Bay Area.
