SFO dropoffs

Sorry if this is spamming you all, but here's the response I just received directly from the relevant staff at SFO:

-----------------------------------------------

Teresa Whinery from [the SFO] Landside Team provided the information below that may be helpful to you:

During the T3 West Modernization Project, charter bus loading zones are located in the following locations, in the green-and-white striped zones:

Drop-Off:

Terminal 1: No change. Located at start of center island departures level near Door 1.

Terminal 2: Located at the inner curb at the end of Terminal 1, near Door 8.

Note: Due to crossover locations, charter vehicles cannot stop at both the T1 and T2 drop-off zones on the same trip.

Terminal 3: Center Island, shared zone with Airporters

Pick-Up:

Terminal 1: Courtyard 1

Terminal 3: Located at the inner curb, door 11/12. Must cross-over at the T2 crossover in order to reach inner curb.

For all curbside pick-ups, please only proceed to the curbside zone once you have confirmed the party is ready and waiting with bags in-hand.

If you have any other questions, you may contact Teresa via email at Teresa.Whinery@flysfo.com.

Best,

Based on replies several of you sent me, what 3 coach drivers said, what an SFPD officer at SFO said, and what I saw with my own eyes today:

—International— normal with courtyards A and G

—T1– normal at outer curb

—T2– no drop offs at all (United is now using the inner curb that used to be for us; it seems to me they should let us temporarily use the outer curb hotel shuttle area, but apparently not)

—T3– no drop offs on upper level. It seems to me they should let us continue to use the normal outer curb and pax would then walk back beyond the construction to go inside, but apparently not. On lower (arrivals) level there’s a coach zone on outer curb by door 1 (big sign says Airporters but a small sign says Charter Buses). Another coach zone is at the far end lower level, inner curb by door 13. Pax would need to walk back to door 7 to go inside due to the construction.

With zones on both upper and lower levels, potentially could have to loop around a second time.

I’m sure this will evolve over the next year as construction continues. Please let us know what you find as time goes on.

Here’s what we did today: Dropped at T1 for T1 and T2 pax. Dropped Courtyard G for international and T3 pax.

Also, United now has check-in counters in T2 for pax with flights from there! United staff said this is for the construction, so probably just 2026 or part of 2027.

I’ve emailed the airport to try to get a contact with the correct person for further updates.

Best,

Jason

A driver says we can’t drop at T2 or T3 due to construction. Has anyone been there recently? Is that true?

I haven't been there in a few weeks but I did go out and look at the SFO airport alerts page to see what they had to say about the construction.

I don't see anything about T2 but they do talk about the T3 construction, drop locations, moving of United Ticketing counters to T2 etc... here is the link to see what they say:

https://www.flysfo.com/travel-alerts?_gl=1*jvry5g*_up*MQ..*_ga*OTgzMDMzMTEuMTc2NTk5NjU4MQ..*_ga_2WFVGT9RS1*czE3NjU5OTY1ODAkbzEkZzEkdDE3NjU5OTY2MzgkajIkbDAkaDIxMzY5ODM3MTg.

Good luck... BTW - I don't know who the driver is but if it is somebody that you have worked with a lot and you know them to be pretty spot on with their knowledge of pickup/drop at SFO, then the T2 info may be right. My only eyebrow raise on having both of them shut down like this is because it would seem odd to have the alternate terminal to the construction on T3 also be impacted on the departures level at the same time.

You probably have already thought of this but an alternative drop could be at one of the courtyards on the arrivals level. The guests would need to go into arrivals and up a level but maybe better than fussing with the departures stuff? Just a thought..
