For over 60 years, CCC's and community leadership advocated for a permanent cultural home in the heart of Chinatown—a space where community could gather, art could spill onto the streets, and for hope and possibilities. This decades of activism was carried by multiple generations. In 2025, that vision became reality.
667 Grant Avenue anchors Chinatown's new creative corridor, transforming the landscape of our neighborhood. The street-level space—houses CCC's Design Store, multi-purpose community hub, art exhibitions, and programs—represents what KQED's Cecilia Lei calls a "new era of courage." Executive Director Jenny Leung frames the significance: "We have an opportunity to reclaim [Grant Avenue]. [The community] wants to be able to see young people and new energy and artists, and see something that they can feel proud of." SF Chronicle's Ko Lyn Cheang recognizes the shift happening across Chinatown, where leaders envision "a path for the historic Grant Avenue centered on galleries and bookstores" rather than tourist shops.
